GILLIG STRIVING TO QUALIFY FOR HIS HOME TOWN CROWD!

Lake Zurich, IL, pre-race: Although the Gillig Motorsports team seems to be struggling, they are making great strides in sorting out their Olds Cutlass. Crew chief Bob Gillig who is assisted by Billy Wagner have been trying all sorts of different combinations to get the Chicago based Cutlass in the ever so tight field of NHRA Pro Stock.

Team Gillig waits anxiously for the FRAM Nationals at Route 66 Raceway. The hometown crowd might just help push Gillig into the field. Tony commented, "We have tried numerous different things in this car and still haven't found what it wants. We changed shocks in NJ and the car really picked up in 60 foot. We went from 20th in 60 foot to 3rd in both of Saturdays sessions. We did some more homework along with chassis builder Rick Jones and are going to try some new four link combinations that should help us tremendously. Steve Schmidt built us a great engine and is updating it right now, I just hope we can do his engine some justice at our home track."

Team Gillig feels confident of the changes they have made to their Oldsmobile and can't wait to see some results in Joliet. Gillig will test some other combinations the day after the event in Joliet to learn more about the ins and outs of his NHRA Pro Stock Oldsmobile.
