Brogdon more than ready for Charlotte
(Conroe, TX) After a disappointing outing at the Mac Tools US Nationals in Indianapolis two weeks ago, Rodger Brogdon and the PISTONATOR team are looking forward to getting back on track this weekend @ zMax Dragway in Concord NC in more ways than one.
"Indy was a tough race for Pro Stock. I don't know what it is about the track there but it seems like every year it becomes a one lane track for the Pro Stock cars. This year like most, it was the left lane that was the lane of choice. You can look at the 60 foot times from right to left and see an obvious difference from Fridays first session to the finals on Monday," said Brogdon. "That difference made lane choice critical and we just missed the setup we needed on the run we needed it the most. But hey, that's racing, and in Pro Stock being 'close' just don't cut it these days."
"Charlotte though should be a completely different story. It's a new track and the starting line there should be as good as it gets in both lanes. Bruton's facilities are always well maintained and in top notch shape, and I know his crew and the NHRA Safety Safari will have it ready for this countdown race."
"We've been testing since Indy and based on what we found have made some changes to our program. The changes should help us close the gap a little more on those at the top and with the parity in Pro Stock these days, every little bit that you can find that helps can make a big difference on race day."
"The PISTONATOR team won't be quite as large this weekend at Charlotte. We'll still have Michael Phillips & Craig Treble riding their Pro Stock Bikes, but team owner Steve Kent will be racing his PISTONATOR comp car along with his SS/AH Cuda at the LODRS event in Belle Rose, LA. Steve had the best Indy of anyone on the team, losing in the 3rd round of Comp (by .004) to the eventual champ Al Ackerman."
"I know that Craig & Michael are as ready as I am to get at it this weekend and go some rounds. With five races to go all of us still have a shot at the championship, we just have to start winning rounds this weekend."
