Del Worsham enters the second race in the Countdown to 1 NHRA Playoffs in ninth place in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings. He trails eighth-place Tim Wilkerson by 29 points and leads 10th-place Tony Pedregon by 12 points.

Worsham has been a solid qualifier this year. In the season's first 18 races, he has qualified in the top five nine times; his average qualifying position is 6.22. Two weeks ago in Indianapolis, Worsham was the No. 11 qualifier and lost to event winner Ashley Force Hood in the first round of eliminations.

Worsham has never won at zMax Dragway. Last year, he was the No. 9 qualifier and lost to Jack Beckman in the first round of eliminations.

Worsham is still seeking his first win of the season; he won three races last year visiting victory circle in Madison, Ill., Bristol, Tenn. and Richmond, Va.

Worsham has 25 wins in his Funny Car career; he is seventh on the NHRA's all-time Funny Car wins list trailing sixth place Cruz Pedregon by just one win.

Worsham prior to xMax Dragway:

"The Al-Anabi Toyota made some good runs at Indy; both qualifying runs on Sunday were great runs. Unfortunately, we couldn't repeat those runs on Monday, and eliminations didn't work out the way we hoped. We're taking those good runs over to Charlotte so we can try to replicate them. The Al-Anabi car can still perform; we know it's capable. We just have to get it to the point where it does it all the time. We have five more races to make a run at the Full Throttle championship. We'll be ready to race the Al-Anabi Toyota when we get to Charlotte this weekend."
