Brown head to Las Vegas after memorable event at Gainesville

Brown, 37, returns to Las Vegas as the reigning Top Fuel world champion.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 2, 2013) - Antron Brown and the Matco Tools team left the last NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series with more than their first event title of 2013.

Brown's 38th NHRA event title on March 17 at Gainesville, Fla., enabled him to move around Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tony Schumacher for the Top Fuel points lead after three events.

And it also presented team owner Don Schumacher with his 200th title as a pioneering Funny Car driver and multi-team owner.

"Being able to do that for Don was so big for me, but all of my teammates contributed to Don getting No. 200, and we sure don't plan on stopping there," said Brown, who contributed 20 event titles to the total.

Brown, 37, returns to Las Vegas as the reigning Top Fuel world champion and as the top-ranked driver in the category.

"You want to win every race and always be No. 1, but that really only matters after the last race at Pomona (Calif.) in November," said Brown, whose only Las Vegas title came in April two years ago although he has been a runner-up at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway five times, including a year ago in the NHRA Nationals to DSR teammate Spencer Massey.
