INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 3, 2007) -- Tony Pedregon, the 2003 NHRA Nitro Funny Car Champion and his Q Horsepower team will bring 8,000 horsepower of nitro thunder to the Thunder Valley of Bristol, Tennessee as Bristol Dragway hosts the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals Presented by Q, July 6-8, 2007, the 12th stop on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing's $50 million, 23-race tour.
Pedregon is fresh off a top four performance at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk last weekend. He lit up the Ohio evening sky with nitro flames on the way to qualifying 3rd (4.757) and then went on to win rounds over Tony Bartone (4.871) and Tim Wilkerson (4.961) before falling short to Kenny Bernstein (4.992) in the semifinal round. Pedregon moves up 3 positions to 3rd in the Countdown to the Championship points battle.
With 33 NHRA career wins, Pedregon knows what it's like to be in the Winner's Circle and would like nothing more than a win at Bristol. "My team is really looking forward to the Bristol race. The fans are great and the newly resurfaced track should be fast," stated Pedregon. "It would be great to put the Q Horsepower NHRA Nitro Funny Car in the Winner's Circle for all of the great people at Q, the presenting sponsor of the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals."
Heading into Bristol, Pedregon's NHRA Nitro Funny Car will carry the new Q Horsepower paint scheme introduced in Norwalk.
"We received positive feedback from the new Q Horsepower car in Norwalk," explained Pedregon. "Many of the fans had seen the new commercials prior to coming to the track so they could relate to the new paint scheme. This new full synthetic oil is amazing; the hotter this oil gets the more it protects- a perfect scenario for our 8,000 HP funny car engines and for our daily drivers at home."
After conquering the Nationals in Bristol, the NHRA warriors head to Denver, Colo. for Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals, July 13-15, 2007.
