Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals
Team Jeg's is ready for return to Thunder Valley.
Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin are both excited about returning to Bristol, Tennessee for the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals. Both drivers have experienced success at the track with back to back wins of the Winston Showdown in 1999 and 2000. Jeg won the event in an all Jeg's final against Troy in 1999. Troy followed up with is victory the following year.
The Bristol Dragway hosted its first national event since reopening last year with the inaugural Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals. Jeg and Troy would like nothing more than to put the yellow and black back into the winner's circle in Bristol especially now that championship points are on the line.
"We have experienced a steady improvement with our in-house engine program over the past several races," said Jeg. "Competition is so tight in the Pro Stock class that you can't take anything for granted. If we can get both of our Jeg's Mail Order machines into the show at Bristol, we should have a pretty solid chance of going rounds on Sunday and hopefully putting a Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier in the winner's circle. Mac Tools is a member of our Track Tested group and they do a great job with sponsoring their national events. I'm sure that they would like to see a car that they sponsor in the winner's circle, and I would sure love to make a return to the podium in Bristol."
"I've had some pretty fond memories of this track," recalled Troy. "I can remember racing at Bristol with my dad many years ago. The job that Bruton Smith and his team has done with this facility is extraordinary. Winning the shoot out at the new facility was definitely one of the most memorable wins of my career. The performance of our team has improved steadily but quietly over the past several races. We have been making consistent run's in our Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolets and we think that we have found something in our combination since Houston that will help us to make a lot more noise on Sunday. We'll take it one step at a time, and work on qualifying. When the entire field is separated by a couple hundredth's of a second you can't get too far ahead of yourself."
Jeg and Troy enter the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals tenth and sixteenth respectively in the POWERade championship standing. Qualifying will begin on Friday, April 26 with two qualifying sessions.
