BRISTOL, Tenn. -- This weekend Mark Whisnant, driver of the RW Performance / Snap-On Tools Chevrolet Cavalier, heads to the mountains of Tennessee for the 3rd annual Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals. At an elevation of 1,475 feet, the Bristol Dragway has a reputation as a tuner's nightmare, but Whisnant and Team RW are looking forward to racing in the Bristol's high altitude conditions.

"We have decided that we like to race in the altitude," said Whisnant of Stockbridge, Ga. "A lot of teams dread coming to Bristol because of the altitude. It can be a real challenge to find power in this altitude, but we are not worried about it.

"So far this year, our best race came at another altitude track; Las Vegas. In Las Vegas this RW Performance / Snap-On Tools Cavalier just got better with every pass. My crew chiefs, Markus Svensson and Gary Pearman, have a great tune up for the altitude, and it showed in Vegas.

"Of coarse, Bristol is not a carbon copy of Las Vegas. The baseline is similar, but not the same. I am confident that Markus and Gray have a few more tricks up their sleeves, and hopefully those tricks will get us in the show come Sunday."

Qualifying at the 3rd annual Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals will begin on Friday April 25, and conclude on Saturday April 26. Eliminations will take place at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday April 27
