Humphreys' 6.810-second Effort Sends Him Against Jason Line

BRISTOL, Tenn., July 7, 2007 -- Justin Humphreys' Friday night qualifying time of 6.810 seconds (at 203.12 mph) puts him in 13th starting position for Sunday's O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at hot, humid Bristol Dragway. It marks the fifth start of his rookie Pro Stock season.

"The horsepower was there and the car was making good runs," said Humphreys, of Monrovia, Md. He made four good, consistent runs on a tricky racing surface. His times were 6.853, 6.810, 6.813 and 6.828 seconds. Humphreys, driver of the RaceRedi Motorsports Knoll-Gas Energy Pontiac GTO, races Jason Line (No. 4, 6.789 at 203.86 mph).

"Our hot weather tune-up is starting to come around," said crew chief Eric Luzinski. "It is getting better every week and we are all feeling comfortable. We did change motors after the last qualifying run. We've tried hard to make it work."

For Humphreys, however, it marks the third time in his five starts that he's raced Line in the opening round.

Humphreys scored his first round win over Line at St. Louis in May. He advanced to the semifinals at that event.
