Densham plans to make thunder in the valley

BRISTOL, Tenn. (July 4) - Funny Car driver Gary Densham gets a charge out of driving nitromethane burning Funny Cars, that's why he continues to forge ahead despite a lackluster season, so far.

"There's always a location that turns a team's luck around, Densham said. We're feeling pretty good that Bristol and the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will be the place and event that we show the nay sayers what we've got.

Densham is looking forward to getting the Torco Racing Fuels / Racebricks Collectables Funny Car on the track to see what it will hold.

"Bruton Smith [track owner] has some of the nicest race tracks in the United States. If there is ever a complaint from anyone about anything at any one of them, he fixes it immediately. And that's what's happened here. There was a problem with the racing surface that they tried to fix before the original race date in the middle of May but decided it was going to take more time to do the job right. So here we are.

"I feel confident that our Impala SS will perform well on the new surface. We had a weekend of consistent passes in Norwalk and that gives us the confidence we need coming into this event. We're not only looking to make the 16-car field but to also go rounds during Sunday's final eliminations. It's time man."
