LUCAS OIL RENEWS TITLE SPONSORSHIP OF NHRA NATIONAL EVENT AT BRAINERD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
GLENDORA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2008) -- Lucas Oil Products, an industry leader in lubricants and fuel treatments, has renewed its multi-year agreement for title sponsorship of the NHRA national event at Brainerd International Raceway, it was announced today by NHRA officials.
The Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals will be held Aug. 13-16 in the popular resort area of Brainerd in central Minnesota. The $1.5 million race, which will be televised by ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD, is the 16th of 24 events in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series for 2009.
Lucas Oil has sponsored the popular race since 2003.
"To me Brainerd is more than just a race, it's an event and I'm sure that the tens of thousands of fans attending feel the same way," said Forrest Lucas, president and CEO of Lucas Oil Products. "This race also gives us a connection to our Canadian customers and personnel. In our mind this is one of the top races of the year, this is the only event that has the 'ZOO' and the fun associated with that experience is an event in itself."
The sponsorship renewal continues Lucas Oil's strong commitment to NHRA Drag Racing. The company also sponsors the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA's developmental touring series where the future stars of the sport are born. The company also sponsors Top Fuel dragsters driven by Morgan Lucas and J.R. Todd, as well as several teams in the Lucas Oil Series.
"Lucas Oil continues to be a valuable partner in NHRA Drag Racing and we appreciate their tremendous support of NHRA, the teams and our fans," said Gary Darcy, NHRA senior vice president of sales and marketing. "The extension of its title rights sponsorship of the highly popular event at Brainerd International Raceway is yet another example of their commitment to NHRA."
