BRAINERD, Minn. -- Returning to competition for the first time since Chicago (Joliet, Ill.) in June, Kenny Koretsky, driver of the KPK Motorsports Elite Trailer Sales/Snap-on Tools Pro Stock Chevrolet Cavalier, qualified 10th for the Pro Stock field for the 21st annual NHRA Rugged Liner Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR).

In today's opening round of eliminations, Koretsky faced Warren Johnson, who qualified seventh. Johnson had lane choice by one thousandth of a second. Koretsky left first and led almost the entire quarter-mile. Johnson squeaked by at the finish line strip winning by .0015 seconds -- approximately five feet.

"We showed today that we can run with the big boys," said Koretsky. "When you run door to door all the way down the track with Warren Johnson, you know it won't be long until you start posting win lights. I'm pleased with our results this weekend and give credit to my entire crew. They are the ones who have been working hard while we were away from the track. Once again, I would like to thank Elite Trailer Sales, Snap-on Tools, Bucks County Kawasaki and Carolina Drilling for making this weekend possible."

Koretsky now turns his attention to the "granddaddy" of all NHRA national events, the 48th annual NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Clermont, Ind., just west of downtown Indianapolis. This prestigious event will unfold August 28- Sept. 2.
