Jeg continues to show strength

After the first full day of qualifying Jeg and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier landed in the No. 6 position.

Jeg posted an impressive opening run of 6.952 at 199.61 mph on his madden voyage down the newly resurfaced track. The 33-year old landed in the No. 4 spot.

"We made a good run in the opening session and we know there is more left," explained Jeg. "It was the first run on the engine and we just wanted to be conservative."

In the second session Jeg laid down a run of 6.920 at 200.23 mph. The defending event winner improved his qualifying time and slipped to the No. 6 position and will have two opportunities to improve his qualifying position tomorrow (Saturday).

"We made a solid run from A to B in the second session," said Jeg. "I expect for us to pick up where we left off and continue to improve tomorrow (Saturday). We have solid data in both lanes and a good baseline. Everyone on the team is focused on improving together."
