Brad Jeter Update: Ready To Race But^Å
Greenville, S.C. - - At the end of last season Brad Jeter's plate overflowed with opportunity for the 2002 season. The Pro Stock driver from Greenville, S.C., was exploring several exciting rides as a hired driver and was also discussing forming his own team with several potential marketing partners.
Now fast forward to January 24, 2002 and you find the plate is wiped clean, the rides did not materialize and the sponsors pool has dried up due to a faltering economic situation.
"At the end of last season I thought we had the bull by the horns," said Jeter. "Now here we are two weeks prior to the start of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series in Pomona (Calif.) and we don't even have the bull to ride.
"I know that I have proven myself as a driver in Pro Stock cars. Although it is getting late, I want everyone to know that I am still available either as a hired driver or in a marketing sponsorship with Brad Jeter Racing. I am ready to race but^Å
"If nothing comes my way, I will spend all my time in 2002 getting ready for 2003. The new partnership between NHRA and POWERade makes NHRA drag racing the most exciting opportunity for race teams and sponsors in motorsports."
Jeter finished tenth in the Pro Stock point standings in 2001. He advanced to the finals at the Checker/Schuck's/Kragen Nationals in Phoenix and the AAA Auto Club of So. California Finals in Pomona, finishing runner-up at both events. Jeter also drove to the semifinal round at Gainesville and Dallas.
