SNYDER, WANN PICK UP WINS IN BOISE
BOISE, Idaho -- Final eliminations are complete at the 37th Annual Napa Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford, a round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Comp Eliminator racer, Lucky Snyder and Super Stock driver Steven Wann, finished with strong runs to take home a trophy and earn points toward a divisional and national championship.
Snyder of Longmont, Colo., made a pass of 121.14 seconds to defeat number one qualifier Bob Marshall of Langley, B.C., in Comp Eliminator.
In Super Stock, Wann of Modesto, Calif., driving a '69 Barracuda made a pass of 9.870 seconds at 132.82 mph to take home the trophy. Wann beat out Mike Blackstone of Livermore, Calif., in the final.
Jody Lang of Puyallup, Wash., finished the day in the winner's circle with a time of 12.808 seconds edging passed Jeff Lane of North Bend, Wash.
Super gas racer Rodney Lee of Portland, Ore., ran a pass of 10.252 seconds at 151.46 mph in a '61 Corvette to defeat Linzi Theobald of St. George, Utah.
Steve Williams of Loma Linda, Calif., ran a time of 9.203 seconds at 174.72 mph to grab the win over Blu Hayball of Fort Hall, Idaho, in Super Comp.
Super Street driver Rick Milinazzo of Windsor, Colo., made a final pass of 11.234 seconds at 120.93 mph to take home the top prize over Gerry Epp of Abbotsford, B.C.
In other categories, Top Sportsman pilot Todd Fricke of Pasco, Wash., took the win over Robert Matthews of Gig Harbor, Wash., with a pass of 7.322 seconds at 188.12 mph. Tom Malicki of Brush Prairie, Wash., finished on top with a time of 7.465 seconds at 180.86 mph over Andy Morris of Olympia, Wash., in Top Dragster. Sportsman Motorcycle racer Wade Johnson of Rapid City, S.D., ran a pass of 8.829 seconds at 142.54 mph for the win beating out Danny Patridge of Kennewick, Wash., who ran a time of 8.812 seconds at 148.00 mph. In the exhibition Nostalgia Top Fuel race, Mike McLennan of Burlingame, Calif., made a pass of 5.917 seconds at 246.17 mph taking home the first place trophy. McLennan defeated Troy Green of Purcell, Okla., who ran 6.162 seconds at 216.19 mph.
