BOISE, Ariz. - SUMMIT FastNews - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 29th Annual Auto Parts N Stuff Ignitor listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.881/236.90, Now #1 Right Lane: Gary Anderson Runs 6.420/211.76, Now #2 3:00 PM For the first time in several years the weather in Boise is picture perfect: 70 degrees and not a cloud in the skies. Exciting stuff, particularly if you've been here before ehen there were snow flurries in the staging lanes!
Shields is sporting one of PSI's new injector hats and setup this weekend. They ran well in testing yesterday, and continued here getting a good baseline pass to tune with tomorrow. Anderson had a hole out right at the start on the right side, he sprayed nitro bug juice all the way to the finish line. Left Lane: Mike Strasburg No Time, Now #4 Right Lane: Mike Mchargue Runs 25.660/28.69, Now #3 Strasburg broke a fuel line right at the start, the fuel sprayed a wide stream all over the track AND his left rear slick. Mike did a great job of driving keeping the car off the wall. Mchargue didn't have the clutch setup correctly, he blipped the throttle a couple of times but the car failed to move properly and he aborted the run. Left Lane: Mark Hentges Runs 6.068/173.67, Now #3 Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 5.636/248.55, Now #1 Melanie had an exciting time in testing yesterday, her chutes failed to deploy, and she took a drive out in the wheat field off the end of the track. The burger machine settled on the rear slicks and thunders downtrack, posting the number others will be shooting for. Nice pass for the In-N-Out dragster. Hentges got near the centerline and had to lift early. Left Lane: Steve Federlin Runs 5.830/239.42, Now #2 Right Lane: Gary Ormsby Jr. Runs 5.985/222.77, Now #4 Federline shhhhoookkkk for a loonnnngggg time, and shifted a bit late as a result. His time is pretty good considering! Ormsby will be claiming points in Division Six this year according to his tech card, and made the first pass of his career in Boise a fiver. Left Lane: Rick Santos Runs 5.815/235.60, Now #2 Norm Grimes and the rest of the Oakwood homes team will be dialing in a new PSI injector and setup this weekend too.
Lots of tire shake for Rick, he drives through it better than anyone else, good enough for the number two spot.
We end the round with Melanine Troxel's 5.63 covering the field by over two tenths.
