TONY PEDREGON RACES TO SECOND ROUND

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 10, 2005) -- Tony Pedregon and the 'Q' Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car lost in a tough second round match up with Del Worsham during today's O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.

After a satisfactory first round, the 2003 NHRA Funny Car champion, smoked the tires at take off the second time around. Pedregon clicked off a 5.95-second elapsed time at 249.81 mph, not quick enough to beat Worsham's 5.328 seconds at 198.76 mph. Pedregon advanced by defeating Phil Burkart on a holeshot in round one.

"The track got tighter during the second run and we unleashed a few too many horses too early," said Pedregon. "We were a little too aggressive for the cooler air temperature and the high humidity. And we also were the first pair to go down the track.

"I think we were good considering that we got behind in qualifying and we were against a really competitive group of drivers," explained Pedregon. "But we still managed to earn a few points and made it to the second round. There are a lot of races left in the season and we're in a good position to improve upon."

Tony Pedregon and the 'Q" Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car will race next at the sixth annual NHRA Summitracing.com Nationals to be held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on April 14-17.
