(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., March 29) Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Nitro Funny Car Team head to the fastest quarter-mile in the country, Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, this weekend for the exciting O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals and another attempt at entering the record books with a solid run at this early spring race.

Pedregon, a four-time Houston winner (1997, 1998, 2000, 2003) and No. 1 qualifier (1997), is also hoping for a good showing in Houston because that's where his primary sponsor, Q Power, is located. One of their brands, Pennzoil, is also a presenting sponsor of the event.

Pedregon is aware of how the success of his team affects his fans and sponsors: "I am really excited to return to Houston, the headquarters of my sponsor, Q Power. We are doing quite a bit of media and sponsor functions throughout the weekend, which I always enjoy. Houston is also a really big Hispanic market, and because of my heritage, I am anxious to be able to interact with a lot of the Hispanic fans that our team has accumulated over the years."

Because of his past successes in Houston, Pedregon is looking forward to the upcoming weekend and possibly another win: "My brother Cruz and I were the first two brothers in NHRA history to race in a final round (1997), and that took place in Houston, a race that I eventually won. The Q Power team is in the best position we have been in years to win again. Based on the performance of the team in the first races of 2006, I am really confident that we should have a good weekend."

Baytown is about 30 miles east of downtown Houston, and the track is 2.5 miles south of Interstate 10. From downtown Houston, take I-10 east to Highway 146 and go south to FM 565 (the second stoplight). Take FM 565 east (left) about three miles to the track. From Highway 146 south, take Highway 99 east to FM 1405, then go north to FM 565 and east about two miles to the track.

After conquering the fast quarter-mile at Houston Raceway Park this weekend, the NHRA warriors head to Las Vegas from April 6-9. Check your local ESPN2 listings for broadcast times and event coverage.
