O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals
Team Jeg's eager to return to Houston.
Team Jeg's drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin are ready to roll the familiar yellow and black colors of their Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet Cavaliers into the water box at Houston Raceway Park. Team Jeg's and the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series return to Houston this weekend for the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals.
Event winner's in 2000, Team Jeg's looks for a return to the winner's circle after a promising weekend prior to the O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Las Vegas. Both cars were solidly qualified in the quick sixteen and were unfortunate to be paired against each other in round one of competition.
"It was really unfortunate that we had to face each other in the first round in Vegas," said Jeg. "The important thing was that both cars were strong right out of the trailer and we are looking to improve even more when we take to the quarter mile in Houston."
Troy Coughlin is equally optimistic about his chaces in Houston as well. After starting off the season slower than anticipated, Troy looks to Houston as an opportunity to jump into the thick of the season long POWERade championship chase.
"It is still very early in the season," commented Troy. "Our in-house engine program is making tremendous strides, and there is no reason to think that we can't be a threat for the win in Houston. We have continued to improve at every race this season, and Houston could definitely be the track were it all comes together."
Jeg and Troy enter the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals tenth and seventeenth in the point standings respectively. Jeg could jump to as high as sixth and Troy as high as thirteenth with a good outing in Houston. Qualifying for the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals begins at the Houston Raceway park Friday, April 12.
