Jeg Out In Round One

In the opening round Jeg Coughlin Jr lined up next to Texas resident Bruce Allen. The match up pitted a Chevy Cavalier and a Pontiac Grand Am against each other.

Both drivers carefully staged their cars. The starting line advantage went to Allen by .004 seconds (.015 to .019). Both cars were door-handle-to door-handle from start to finish.

Coughlin lost on a hole shot by .003 seconds, which is rare for the two-time Pro Stock champion. He posted a 6.808 at 203.09 mph. The run was the 3rd quickest and 3rd fastest of the round.

"That was about as close as it gets at the stripe," said Jeg. "Both cars were door-handle-to-door-handle from the start. That is type of racing the fans come to see, we were just a little short."

The next race is in two weeks at Bristol Motor Speedway. Team JEG'S will head back to their shop in Delaware, Ohio. They will immediately begin preparing for the Mac Tools Thunder Valley Nationals.
