Treble advances to final round for second year in a row.

Baytown, TX -- Craig Treble saved his best run of the weekend for the final round of Pro Stock Bike at the 16th annual O'Reilly Spring Nationals presented by Pennzoil, but his 7.146 188.20 trailed Angelle Savoie's 7.138 188.89 by .008, giving Savoie her second win of the season.

Treble got in trouble early in the weekend when the No.1 motor in his Matco Tools Suzuki broke a transmission during qualifying on Friday. The team came out strong Saturday, and continued to improve throughout Sundays Eliminations. After a first round win over John Smith on Pete Briggs lake Mortgage Kawasaki, Treble set low ET of the second round with a 7.174 187.13 against Reggie Showers. A win over Antron Brown in the semi's put the Matco Tools Bike into the final against Brown's Team 23 teammate Angelle Savoie.

Without lane choice in the final round, the Matco Tools Team pulled out all the stops and leaned hard on their repaired Vance & Hines motor, knowing that the bumpy left hand lane was giving the Pro Stock Bike riders trouble as they attempted to get the horsepower to the track.

The tune up nearly worked. At half track, Treble's bike held a .020 lead, but as the Matco Tools Bike went for the final gear change, the bike wouldn't shift. "I was on a great pass, and when I went to hit the button, it didn't go. I hit it again and it shifted, but we lost too much ET to still win the race." Said Craig. "It's too bad because even after the shifting problem, a 7.146 @ 188.20 in that lane is a pretty good run"

With the final round showing at Houston, Craig Treble moved up in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Bike points standings to third place, 1 point out of second, 78 points behind the leader Savoie.
