COMMERCE, GA. - In his second race as driver of the Jerry Haas Chevrolet S-10, newly appointed driver Steven Farr can officially say that he'll be there on Sunday. The 20-year old, college student from Colleyville, Tx., will compete in final eliminations at the Advance Auto Parts Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, located in Commerce, Ga.

This weekend's performance allows Farr to breathe a sigh of relief.

"I knew we could do it," explained Farr. "I knew it wasn't going to be overnight. It was going to take a while. I'm fortunate because there were a lot of good entries that didn't get in. Jerry Haas provided me with a good truck and that proved to be the difference." Farr had run a best 7.609/177.84 on Friday and had ended qualifying as the ninth seeded entry.

A quick qualifying session among fellow Pro Stock Truck competitors dropped the Haas team to the 14th spot. Farr was determined to improve and attained his objective by blasting out a personal best 7.589/176.72. The team ended as the 12th quickest entry.

Tough conditions prevented most teams from improving, including Farr. He made a straight pass, but fell short of improvement with a 7.64/177.28.

He ended his qualifying in the 13th spot and will face Mike Coughlin in the first round of eliminations.

Final eliminations are scheduled to begin tomorrow at 10:30 AM.
