Tom Martino put together a consistent set of four good runs in qualifying for the Advance Auto Parts Southern Nationals. His best pass came in Friday's evening session, when he logged an elapsed time of 6.932-seconds with a top speed of 198.47 mph. As a result, the CENTURY 21 Grand Am will start its pursuit of an Atlanta Dragway victory from the 11th position, with Martino facing No. 6 qualifier George Marnell.

"We tried to take a more conservative approach to the tune-up on our CENTURY 21 Grand Am this weekend, trying to steadily sneak up on it. Although you're never satisfied unless you're No. 1, we're pretty pleased with our results so far. We made it down the track four times, and the car responded to the changes we made. I think we learned something on every pass.

'We have some more adjustments we'll make before the first round tomorrow. Our goal for tomorrow is simple - leave the starting line first and get to the finish line first - four times. "
