The sun continued to beat down on the Atlanta Dragway racing surface. The lack of cloud cover throughout the final day of qualifying gave teams a slippery surface to overcome.

In the third qualifying session Mike Coughlin and his Chevrolet S-10 crossed the finish line beams with a 7.573 at 176.90 mph. The run was not an improvement and Mike ended the session sitting in the No. 11 position.

"The run felt a lot better than what the numbers were on the time slip again. The Jeg's Chevy S-10 went down the track like it was on a string," said Mike.

John Coughlin rolled into the right lane for the third session. The yellow and black Jeg's bow tie blasted off of the line and headed straight down the center of the groove to the big end. John ran a 7.585 at 177.16 mph. The run was not an improvement and John slipped to the No. 17 spot.

"My dad and the guys are making good calls. We just need some more pony's under the hoods of these Jeg's Mail Order Chevrolet S-10's. We are making some real progress with our in-house engine program and we all understand that it is not an overnight process," explained John.

Mike ran a 7.631 at 176.42 mph during the final session. The ran was not an improvement and Mike remained in the No. 11 position.

"I really felt like we were going to run better then what we did during the final session. We will spend some time reviewing all of the data and looking over every component on this Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10 to make sure that it is ready for battle on raceday," said Mike.

John started the final qualifying session in the No. 17 position. Team Jeg's showed the meaning of team work in the final session. John improved and broke back into the quick sixteen. He ran a 7.574 at 176.93 mph and moved up to the No. 16 spot.

"Sixteen is a lot better then seventeen. We made a great run given the conditions. My hat goes off to Team Jeg's. We are looking forward to first round and we will be ready to make some noise," explained John.

In the opening round Mike will face off against Todd Patterson. This will be a classic Chevrolet vs. Dodge match up. John will go head-to-head with Bob Panella in round one.
