ANTRON BROWN COMPLETES TEST SESSION AT O'REILLY RACEWAY PARK
CLERMONT, Ind. (Aug. 26, 2010) - Antron Brown made seven test laps behind the wheel of his Don Schumacher-owned Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster Thursday at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The 24-time NHRA winner's quickest elapsed time was 3.858-seconds on Thursday morning at the historic strip.
Many professional NHRA teams, including all seven DSR cars, tested in preparation for next weekend's prestigious U.S. Nationals, Sept. 1-6, at O'Reilly Raceway Park. Professional qualifying begins Friday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. The former college track star strapped into his bright blue rail seven times on Thursday posting runs of 3.885 seconds at 285.29, 3.858 at 313.37, 3.896 at 312.06 and 3.860 at 315.71. Brown earned the pole at the U.S. Nationals last September with an elapsed time of 3.835-seconds. He also is a two-time U.S. Nationals Pro Stock Motorcycle winner (2000, '04).
"The test went very well for our DSR Matco Tools team; it was very productive," Brown said. "We learned a tremendous amount and this gives our Matco team a great deal of confidence heading into Indy next weekend and the Countdown (to 1).
"This was like running a marathon or doing the Ironman (Triathlon) today making seven passes, but it was a lot of fun. Who wouldn't want to hot lap a Top Fuel dragster seven times in one day? It was really good for our team and shows the character of the guys we have on this DSR team here with Matco. We have to make runs to learn and get better and we've done that the past few days."
