LAS VEGAS-- NASCAR Winston West Series points leader Austin Cameron is prepared for The Orleans 222 at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday.

Cameron, driver of the No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts-sponsored Chevrolet, is the series points leader after winning the season opener at Phoenix International Raceway Feb. 2. The veteran driver hopes to extend his early-season advantage at the Bullring.

"Hopefully we can maintain our lead," Cameron said. "They (drivers) will have to step it up. I know they are shooting for me."

After a sixth-place starting position last year for the NAPA 300 NASCAR Winston West Series race at the Bullring, Cameron finished fourth. The 25-year-old of El Cajon, Calif. is looking for a solid performance again this year on LVMS' 3/8-mile oval.

"The Bullring is a patience race," Cameron said. " I feel pretty good about it. I've been in the series for four years now and I think I have a good handle."

The Orleans 222 is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with a driver autograph session at 6 p.m. behind the main grandstands.

In addition to the NASCAR Winston West Series, local drivers in the NASCAR Outlaw Stocks, NASCAR Chargers and Thunder Roadsters will compete. The Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks also will be on hand.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. General admission is $19 for adults and $15 for senior citizens/ military personnel/children 6-12. Children five and under are free.
