NASCAR Winston West Series:

Winston Cup star Ken Schrader took the lead with 36 laps to go and stayed in front to win the Bosch Spark Plug 150 at Phoenix International Raceway.

The race was the season-opener for the NASCAR Winston West Series, which is celebrating its 50th year of competition. Goodyear is the sole tire provider for the series.

Schrader led a total of 124 laps and averaged 86.699 mph during the 150-lap chase around the mile oval.

Rookie Scott Lynch, the pole sitter, finished second. Jim Inglebright took third, followed by Austin Cameron and Steve Portenga.

Lynch won the Bud Pole Award with a lap averaging 127.528 mph.
