IRWINDALE, CALIF. (May 12, 2001) Momentum and teamwork paid off for Orleans Racing Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway in the Food 4 Less 250. Brendan Gaughan brought home a second victory in his No. 16 NAPA/Martin Senour Chevrolet Monte Carlo

“It’s good to win two in a row,” said team owner Bill McAnally. “It’s a new car we built in the shop, and that’s a good feeling. The team did a great job building this car. Brendan was flawless driving tonight and the team had great pit stops.”

NAPA crew chief Shane Wilson said, “It was a great win for the NAPA team. This will really keep the momentum going for Laguna Seca next weekend.”

NAPA, the official parts supplier to Irwindale Speedway, was in strong attendance at the 250-lap race.

Said McAnally, “NAPA Los Angeles had a great turnout. We even had NAPA support all the way from Oregon. The NAPA support we receive is so instrumental in all that we do.”

NASCAR legend Hershel McGriff, driver of the Orleans Racing No. 04 MBNA/Park Corp. Chevrolet Monte Carlo, had some great moments on the half-mile track. After a 12th place qualifying effort, McGriff showed off his great driving talent, and worked his way into the top ten before finishing 13th.

Both Gaughan and McGriff were popular in a pre-race autograph session held on the track alongside the racecars. Gaughan also made an appearance at the NAPA hospitality area.

The Food 4 Less 250 will be televised on a tape-delay basis on Fox Sports NET. For more information about Orleans Racing, visit our websites at www.orleansracing.com and www.hershel-mcgriff.com.
