BOWLES RETURNS TO MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK AS THE NASCAR CAMPING WORLD
WEST CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER
Californian enters Round 10 seeking second career win at the Utah road course
TOOELE, UTAH (July 30, 2009) -- Californian Jason Bowles returns to the cockpit of his NASCAR Camping World West Series car this weekend (July 31-August 1) seeking to not only extend his championship lead, but also return to his road course winning ways. With Miller Motorsports Park playing host to the Miller Motorsports Park 125 in Utah, the multiple series race winner is poised to do just that.
For most of the NASCAR Camping World West Series competitors, three road courses in four events does not make for an ideal racing, given they're oval backgrounds. For Bowles, a former standout karter and formula car driver, it is the perfect opportunity to add wins to his racing resume and score valuable championship points. While the 2007 Rookie of the Year did not get the desired results in the most recent race at Portland International Raceway -- finishing fifth -- he does enter as a driver everyone expects to challenge for top honors at the 3.06-mile Miller Motorsports Park. Piloting the No. 6 Sunrise Ford/Oakley/Joe Gibbs Racing Oil/GS 610/RPM 12/Justice Brothers/Bell/Ford, the current championship leader enters Round 10 with three wins in five career road course starts, including a victory at MMP.
"I'm really looking forward to going back to Miller this weekend," stated Bowles. "This is the track where I got my first win in the series back in my rookie season, and after getting a flat tire while leading coming to the white flag I am really looking to get back into victory lane. We found a few things back at the shop after Portland that I think will bring our performance back up to the level we are looking for. I am also really excited as my new website will be going online over the weekend, so be sure to check out www.JasonBowles.com. Also new for this weekend you can follow live weekend updates and race updates on my twitter site http://twitter.com/Bowlesjason."
The on-track action for Bowles and his Sunrise Ford crew commences on Friday (July 31), with a pair of practice sessions at Miller Motorsports Park. The staring order for Round 10 of the NASCAR Camping World West Series will be set on Saturday morning (August 1) via qualifying, followed by the green flag for the Miller Motorsports Park 125 at 1:45 p.m. local time.
