DUNCAN WINS NASCAR WEST RACE AT STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY

STOCKTON, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2005) -- Mike Duncan took the lead late in the going, but he was there when it counted and it was enough to win the Dodge Country NAPA Auto Parts 200 race for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series at Stockton 99 Speedway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Grand National Division, which includes the Busch North Series. The two series share a common rulebook and the same collection of Goodyear bias-ply tires.

Duncan started fourth and took the lead after 187 laps were complete and, even though the race was extended to 206 laps due to a late-race caution period, he led the rest of the way. He averaged 40.436 mph around Stockton's quarter-mile asphalt oval.

Scott Lynch finished second, .748 of a second behind the winner. David Gilliland was third, followed by Steve Portenga and Daryl Harr. Harr finished fifth after starting 12th.

Lynch won the Bud Pole Award with a lap averaging 62.999 mph. Lynch now leads the championship standings with 1,184 points. Duncan is next with 1,141.
