Jonathon Gomez Qualifies 12th for NASCAR K&N Pro Series Race at Infineon
Three Consecutive Top Ten Performances has Gomez in Points Battle
SONOMA, CA (June 18, 2010) Jonathon Gomez of Twin Falls, Idaho made the most of his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series experience on a road course by qualifying 12th out of the 38-car field at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA Friday afternoon. The 27-year old toured the 1.99-mile 12-turn layout in 79.517 seconds (90.094 mph) and will start on the outside of row six for the Thunder Valley Casino Resort "200" slated to 12:30pm PT tomorrow.
"I thought I had a really good first lap despite the car being a bit loose," Gomez said. "The second lap the car really came in. Craig (Raudman- crew chief) and the rest of the team have worked their tail's off to put a car this good under me. I know if I can avoid making any mistakes and stay out of the mess then we are going to have a really good finish."
"My crew chief Craig (Raudman) has been coaching me a lot about just staying focused on hitting my marks and staying on track," Gomez continued. "My spotter Dave Reed kept me clear of the traffic in practice and that will certainly be key tomorrow. I am really looking forward to the race and hope we have a solid finish."
Gomez currently sits fourth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series-West standings after four races with three top ten performances in the first four races this season. His best finish this season is a second place performance among the drivers in the NKNPS-West at Iowa Speedway back in May
