BORIS SAID TO SUB FOR VIDOVICH FOR INFINEON WEST RACE
LAKESIDE, California (June 21, 2006) -- Carlsbad, Calif. road-racing standout Boris Said has been tapped to drive the No.57 DenBeste Transportation / Pacific States Ford filling in for Auggie Vidovich for this Saturday's NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series Blue Lizard Australian Suncream 200 race at Infineon Raceway.
Said was excited to get the call from DenBeste Harvick Racing to fill in for Vidovich, explaining he just wanted to get on the track and go racing. "Sears Point (former name of Infineon Raceway) is one of my favorite tracks," said the veteran road course racer about the 10-turn 1.949-mile road course. With a win in Trans Am, one in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, several wins for BMW plus a pole in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series, Said will be one of the drivers to follow during the winding 64-lap (127.36 mile) race.
"We thought Boris did a great job at Charlotte (May 27) representing the newly formed Busch partnership of Fred Biagi and Bill DenBeste in the Busch No.4 GEICO Dodge for Biagi-DenBeste Racing. We are very pleased with his results and Boris is a great guy," said Lori DenBeste about Said filling in again for Vidovich this weekend. "Boris is a great road racer and we expect he will do well for the No.57 DenBeste Transportation / Pacific States team."
Along with starting the West Series race in the No.57 DenBeste Transportation / Pacific States Ford, Said will be making his debut for No Fear Racing in Sunday's NASCAR Nextel Cup Dodge/Save Mart 350, one of four races scheduled in 2006 for the new Cup team owned by Said, No Fear owner and CEO Mark Simo and Veteran Nextel Cup crew chief Frank Stoddard. Said has been instrumental with many NASCAR teams road-racing programs with his road course background, expertise and stats.
Plans earlier in the year had 2005 NASCAR Toyota All Star Elite Division winner Auggie Vidovich of Lakeside, Calif. entering three races for the newly formed DenBeste Harvick Racing West Series team. Sometime after Vidovich's first West Series race at Phoenix in April, Vidovich was then signed to drive the No.4 GEICO Dodge owned by Busch Series team owner Fred Biagi. Fred Biagi and longtime friend, Bill DenBeste joined forces to step up the level of competition in the No.4 GEICO Dodge for 2006.
With Vidovich racing in Milwaukee in the Busch AT&T 250 also Saturday, Vidovich will have his eyes on his good friend Said gunning for a west coast win for the DenBeste Harvick team.
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series drivers doing double-duty in the West Series race include Said, Brian Vickers and Ken Schrader.
DenBeste Transportation welcomes partners DenBeste Vineyards, Generation Wines, Remedial Transportation Services (RTS) and Priority Lending for the race.
The No.57 DenBeste Harvick Racing team is owned by Lori DenBeste along with her husband, Bill DenBeste of Windsor, Calif. and Mike Harvick of Bakersfield, Calif. As the majority owner of the newly formed team, Lori DenBeste brings diversity to the sport of NASCAR as a women-owned Hispanic team owner.
