BOWLES TRAVELS TO ALL-AMERICAN SPEEDWAY POISED TO CAPTURE NASCAR CAMPING WORLD WEST SERIES TITLE
California standout only requires a top-16 finish to win the 2009 championship crown
ROSEVILLE, CALIF. (September 23, 2009) -- Jason Bowles returns to All-American Speedway on Saturday (September 26) poised to capture the NASCAR Camping World West Series title in the season-finale. The California standout enters the Toyota/Copart 150 presented by Golden State Steel & Stair leading the championship fight by 78 points, and only needing a top-16 finish to secure the championship crown.
Bowles concludes what he and his Sunrise Ford team hopes to be a championship-winning campaign with a second trip to the All-American Speedway in central California. The former karting and junior formula car star has enjoyed good success at the 1/3-mile oval in the previous two NASCAR West visits, having won in 2008 and started from the pole position and finished second during Round Two in April.
Thanks to three wins, seven podiums, nine top-fives and 11 top-10s this season, Bowles enters the 2009 season-finale not only leading the championship standings by an impressive 78 points, but in control of his own destiny. The No. 6 Sunrise Ford/Oakley/Joe Gibbs Racing Oil/GS 610/RPM 12/Justice Brothers/Bell/Ford race pilot needs only finish 16th or better in the 150-lap race to clinch his first NASCAR title.
"I am really looking forward to the race this weekend," stated Bowles. "It's nice to have the points lead, but we still have a long way to go to seal the deal. We have spent the last two weeks going over everything in the shop to make sure we don't beat ourselves. I have to really hand it to my guys as they have done a great job all year and I expect nothing different this weekend. Bob has given me a great opportunity and I want to bring the Championship back to Sunrise Ford Racing. Bill has also been a huge help as he has been in this situation before and knows what it takes to win a championship. We are just going to go and run our own race, we know what we have to do and we know our strategy so that is what we will focus on and let the cards fall where they fall."
