HOLMES WINS DOOR-TO-DOOR RACE WITH MAYHEW IN NASCAR WEST RACE AT ROSEVILLE

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 17, 2010) -- Eric Holmes put a headlock on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship when he won the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts 150 at All American Speedway.

Holmes can clinch the crown by starting the final race of the season at Phoenix International Raceway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for both the K&N Pro Series West and East, as well as for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The three circuits share the same line of Goodyear Eagle racing slicks, allowing drivers to race in all three programs knowing the characteristics of the tires at each event.

Holmes won for the fifth time in West competition this season, but David Mayhew, the closest contender to Holmes in the championship standings, made it difficult. The two raced door-to-door over most of the 150-lap distance around the 1/3-mile oval. There were 10 lead changes, most of them between Holmes and Mayhew.

Mayhew finished second, .406 of a second behind the winner. Eric Schmidt took third, followed by Paulie Harraka and Juan Pitta. Holmes averaged 47.259 mph for the race and won the pole with a qualifying lap averaging 87.059 mph.

Holmes leads the title chase with 1,822 points. Mayhew has 1,666.

The race attracted a capacity crowd.
