Bowles Makes Lone NASCAR Camping World West Series Trip to Arizona Primed to Challenge for the Win; Title contender enters Round Three following runner-up finish and lap record in California
PHOENIX, ARI. (April 15, 2009) -- The 2009 NASCAR Camping World West Series season resumes for Californian Jason Bowles on Thursday (April 16th), with Round Three at Phoenix International Raceway. The series standout enters the Jimmie Johnson Foundation 150 presented by Shamrock Farms event in Arizona having re-established himself as one of the leading drivers in the highly competitive championship.
Bowles returns to the cockpit of his No. 6 Sunrise Ford/Oakley/Joe Gibbs Racing Oil/GS 610/RPM 12/Justice Brothers/Bell /Ford following a strong run in Round Two. While he was unable to add to his six-race win total, the former karting and formula car standout, did earn his seventh pole position with a new lap record, prior to leading a lap and finishing a close second. Bowles is therefore poised to resume his charge to the top of the points standings, at a track where he has previously shown the skill to turn fast laps and pass cars, In his two previous Camping World West Series start at PIR, Bowles has narrowly missed out on a top 10 finish and looks to change that around this week.
After last year not being able to run my primary car due to some technical issues I am really looking forward to coming here with one of my favorite cars. I think Bill Sedgwick and I have really been working well together and with the test we did here right before the testing ban went into effect I am looking forward to a good race.
