DID YOU KNOW-- Goodyear is the sole tire supplier for the NASCAR Grand National Division, which includes the West and Busch North series. The tire lineup is split among three classifications: Short, Intermediate and Speedway.
** TIRE NOTES: The NASCAR West Series will continue to run the same tire codes this weekend at Mesa Marin that the series had such success with in the 2004 season. This tire combination (D1470 on the left, D1471 on the right) has proven to be very versatile and very hearty since it's introduction to the series in 2003. This allows the teams to run this tire package at many of the tracks they compete on, thus reducing their need to learn several different tire combinations and set-ups. Many teams re-use their race tires for practice for the following event to reduce the need to purchase several sets of new tires every race.
** GOODYEAR QUOTE: Chad Fletcher, Marketing Manager: "Due to the continued success of the D1470/D1471 tire combination and positive feedback from the NASCAR West teams, Goodyear has chosen to bring this package back to Mesa Marin this season. The tire construction and compound is the same as last season which should offer the teams the ability to work from their notes from the previous race here last fall."
