BOWLES WINS CAMPING WORLD WEST RACE AT IRWINDALE
IRWINDALE, Calif. (July 6, 2009) -- Jason Bowles won the pole, led the most laps and conquered the NASCAR Camping World Series King Taco 200 at Irwindale Speedway. It's the third time Bowles has won a West Series race at the Southern California half-mile track.
Bowles led the first 18 laps before giving way to Jeff Barkshire, but when Bowles went back ahead to lead lap 87 it was the final lead change of the 200-lap race.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the NASCAR Camping World Series West and East divisions. The same line of reliable Goodyear bias-ply tires is supplied to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and the tires have been very successful. Because the three series each race on tracks ranging from short track to speedways, with a road race or two tossed in to each schedule, the tire applications are varied. But Goodyear's racing experience and manufacturing consistency get the job done.
Barkshire finished second to Bowles at Irwindale, just .450 of a second behind the winner. Paulie Harraka was third, followed by Patrick Long and Greg Pursley. Bowles' pole-winning lap in time trials averaged 96.185 mph and he averaged 75.204 mph over the 200-lap race.
Bowles leads the race to the championship as well. He has 1,364 tallies while defending series champ Eric Holmes is second with 1,340.
