ROOKIE JUSTIN LOFTON BATTLES IN OREGON
Lofton headed to Roseburg, Oregon's Bi - Mart 150 presented by NAPA belts and Hose at the Douglas County Speedway this last weekend. This was yet another hard fought race for the #66 Lofton Cattle Feed Investment Monte Carlo. Justin was one of 18 cars at the 3/8 mile track and again a track Justin had never been to before. He had his share of adjustment problems all day with the car and finally it was time to qualify. Justin qualified last as the car just wasn't quite the way they needed it to be.
Now comes race time, and the measure of a good race car driver is how he drives a car that is not handling well at all. Justin Lofton is a 'Diamond in the Rough' as they say. His past off road racing experience came into play as he fought the wheel for several laps. Finally a yellow allowed the crew to make some adjustments and coming from a lap down Justin was the Lucky Dog recipient and made it up with 75 laps to go. There were a lot of bumpers and quarter panels used up on this track, and Justin's spotter Bryan Brown was constantly telling him to back it down a bit.
Justin was as high as 5th during the 150 lap race, with several yellow flags, and even one red flag moment. As he approached the last few laps Justin knew that he had to give all he had to keep this car in line for the finish. Battling with Duncan for the finish, Justin took a last place starting position and finished in the top 10 with a 9th place finish.
After the race Justin jumped out and declared "Wow what a ride and what a show we put on for the Fans tonight" This young man is the most positive thinking and ready for the next challenge type you would want to meet. What a refreshing end to an intense start of a day.
Justin has a lot of practice at this next track he calls home, where he ran in the Late Model Division last year. Next stop for the #66 Lofton Cattle Feed Investment Monte Carlo is the Irwindale Speedway with the NASCAR Grand National Division, Auto Zone West Series for the July 22nd King Taco 200.
