Eric Holmes makes it a Three-Peat
Antelope, CA -- Eric Holmes just keeps breaking records in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. His win in this weekend's Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS Bonus Challenge "150" makes is three in a row at the short track in the heart of Oregon. Seven wins of nine attempts for the NAPA team from Bill McAnally Racing is another breaking record. Four different drivers piloted the NAPA entry including Austin Cameron with two wins; Peyton Sellers with one win and NASCAR Nationwide driver Brian Ickler also has made a visit to Victory Lane. Holmes also continues as the record holder for the fastest qualifying lap in Roseburg.
The crew chief of the No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry, Matt Goslant and the BMR team were running at full speed towards their goal of recording their second win of the 2010 season. Posting the first and second quickest time in the practice session set the team in motion as Holmes put the NAPA car on the outside of row one for the 150-lap race. With race leader David Mayhew, Holmes ran bumper to bumper thru the first 52 laps, Holmes made his move on a restart and continued to lead for the next 98 laps recording the win as the crowd came to its feet to cheer on their hero.
The TOYOTA/NAPA AUTO PARTS Bonus Challenge "150" can be seen on Thursday June 17th on SPEED Channel 3 pm PST. It was the second event of the five race Bonus Challenge Series in which teams competing in the five events are eligible in sharing in more than $100,000 in bonus money being offered by Toyota and NAPA.
Holmes is currently second in the chase for the championship and only 42 points out of first. The next race will be the Thunder Valley Casino Resort 200 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. on June 19th. For information please log on to www.infineonraceway.com.
Holmes started this weekend's race event by spending some time with local teens who participated in the Teen Impact Drivers Program as BMR hosted the 'Get Real behind the Wheel' class for teens from 14 years old to 17. It's a teen driving safety fair held prior to the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS Bonus Challenge race events. The driving program also included a driving safety course on the race track.
