Erie, Colorado- It was a beautiful evening under the lights at the Colorado National Speedway as the #22 Sunrise Ford NASCAR Camping World Series team took the grid in the 5th starting position at the Toyota/Napa 150.
"We were the fastest in practice but the car did not come in quite as well as I would have hoped in qualifying," said Jason Bowles driver of the #22 Sunrise Ford car.
The team decided early on to sit back and be patient and let the race come around and after lap 50 their strategy began paying off with a caution that lead to Jason making the necessary moves that positioned him into the 3rd spot. With the race going green the remainder of the race the tires began to wear and the inside groove was getting very slick with it becoming difficult to pass lapped traffic. With the first 2 cars holding a substantial lead the #22 car was running very close to the same lap times however the distance was too far to make up with the laps left and the #22 Sunrise Ford team finished a very respectable 3rd place. "All in all bringing the car home in 3rd was a good point's day and a huge improvement by the whole team." said Jason.
Next up the team will be defending their win from last years race at the road course of Sonoma, CA. June 21st.
