HOLMES HOME ON THE RANGE, WINS NASCAR WEST RACE AT COLORADO

DACONO, Colo. (Aug. 16, 2010) -- Colorado's sweeping mountain vistas invite visitors to pick up a guitar and pluck out country and western harmonies about horses. You want to go and tend cattle.

But NASCAR K&N Pro West Series driver Eric Holmes is single-minded when he visits the mile high state and he made it pay off by winning the Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge 150 at Colorado National Speedway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the series, as well as for the K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. The competitors at Colorado raced the complete 150-lap distance around the 3/8-mile oval without changing tires. They raced side-by-side, frequently two and three cars together.

Holmes collected his second straight West Series win and his fourth win of the season. Paulie Harraka finished, second followed by Rookie of the Year points leader Luis Martinez Jr., Greg Pursley and David Mayhew.

Holmes led twice during the event and went ahead for good when he slipped by Martinez on the 107th lap. Holmes' margin of victory was just .580 of a second as he averaged 56.517 for the distance. Martinez won the pole with a lap averaging 81.517 mph. There were three lead changes.

Holmes leads the series standings with 1,482 points. Mayhew is next with 1,368.
