Duncan Wins Colorado West Series Race, Extends Points Lead

ERIE, Colo. (Oct. 11, 2004) -- Mike Duncan collected his first victory of the 2004 season when he won the NAPA 150 NASCAR Grand National Division West Series race at Colorado National Speedway. Duncan has led the championship standings since the start of the year and has dominated qualifying but had not collected a win.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the Grand National Division, which also includes the Busch North Series. The two series share a common rulebook in terms of the construction of the cars and the same Goodyear Eagle bias-ply tires are used in both series.

Duncan's victory extended his lead in the standings. He holds a 1,787 to 1,729 edge over Austin Cameron.

Cameron finished second in the race. CT Hellmund was third, followed by Kerry Earnhardt and David Gilliland.

Earnhardt started fourth and slipped by Scott Lynch to take the lead on lap 16. Earnhardt, son of Dale Earnhardt, held the point until he tagged the wall on lap 108.

Lynch won his first Bud Pole of the season when he toured the 3/8-mile oval at an average speed of 80.406 mph. It was the third pole of Lynch's West Series career.

The next race of the 2004 season will be Oct. 17 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.
