SOUTH BOSTON, VA (FEB. 3, 2003)-- The March 15 Spring Fling 300 will kick the 46th year of racing at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in style with triple points and $15,000 up for grabs. Both of the twin 150 lap events will offer $5,000 to win, with the first event offering double points and the second regular points. If the same driver wins both events, he or she will get a $5,000 bonus, for a payday worth $15,000.
"We closed the 2002 season with 85 entries for the Bailey's 300," commented Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway President Joe Mattioli. "We hope that kicking off the season with $15,000 on the line will bring back what the Speedway is famous for, the best Late Model drivers in the country."
To keep these all-star drivers coming back for all of the Speedway's NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge events this season, all Late Model events will be at least 150 laps and pay $3,000 to win.
Tickets for the Spring Fling 300 are $15 for adult general admission, $25 for reserved seating and $10 for young adults age 10 to 15. Children age nine and under are free. Season passes are available until March 1 for only $150 for adults and $99 for young adults. Adult season passes come with one Preferred Parking Pass per family. After March 1, adult season passes will be priced at $199. At present, the Speedway has scheduled 24 events for 2003.
If a driver does sweep the Spring Fling, the rest of the competitors will have a chance to cash in March 29 at South Boston's first regular NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge event. The popular South Boston Bounty returns for 2003, which puts a bounty on any driver that wins two or more races in a row, with the jackpot increasing by $500 for each consecutive win. If a driver wins the entire Spring Fling, his rivals can pocket $500 March 29 by beating him to victory lane.
Adults can see the March 29 event and the rest of the regular NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge events for only $10. Youth pay $5, and children nine and under are free.
