Martinsville, VA---NASCAR’s richest Late Model Stock Car race, the $91,000 Taco Bell 300 at Martinsville Speedway, will undergo several changes for the September 24 running of the classic. The winner of the Taco Bell 300 will receive $15,000 while additional money distributed throughout the purse has increased nearly all positions, including a $1,125 payoff for last place in the 42-car field. The format for the 200-lap feature event also has been changed from a three-segment to a two-segment race. At lap 100, the race will be stopped for a 10-minute break and the leader at that point will receive a $5,000 award from BB&T. Also at the break, several of the top cars will be inverted. The race will continue until the caution is displayed at lap 190 when the lapped cars will be placed in the back of the field for the final 10 green flag laps. Unlike last year’s event, the race will not be stopped and there will be no inversion at lap 150. Qualifying for the Taco Bell 300 is 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 23 to determine the top 20 starting positions and all of the cars will be impounded until the beginning of the Taco Bell 300 at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be four 25-lap qualifying races to kick off the event with the top five drivers from each race filling out positions 21-40 in the starting field. There will be two provisionals given to complete the 42-car starting lineup for the 200-lap feature race. Chatlee Boats will present $1,000 to the fastest qualifier and the Doughton’s Racing Products Award will be presented to the best appearing car in the starting field of the 200-lap feature race. Tickets for the Taco Bell 300 are $20 each for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. All seats are unreserved.
