Pre-Entry for Southwest Series "100" at PIR

Phoenix, Ariz. (January 24, 2003) The Phoenix Int'l Raceway annual "Winter Heat" presented by Bosch is set for February 2, 2003 and will feature the opening round for the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series as drivers embark on a challenging fourteen race schedule. Drivers from all corners of the country will converge on the "Desert Jewell" featuring the best drivers and teams from all four of NASCAR's Late Model "Elite" series.

The 100-lap race will boast posted awards in excess of $112,000 in which only 42 drivers will take to the starting grid from an expected field of more than 60 cars. Defending Featherlite Southwest Series champion, Eddy McKean, returns along with former series champion Craig Raudman to battle for the 2003 series crown. Also returning is series veteran M.K. Kanke , and long-time series driver Bob Lyon along with Burney Lamar, Sean Woodside, and Ken Schrader.

Former Series champion, "Flyin" Bryan Germone returns for his first full campaign in nearly five years and Jason Jefferson from Yakima, Washington will introduce the first Dodge Intrepid in NASCAR Touring competition.

Teams will check into Phoenix Int'l Raceway on Friday, January 31, with practice and qualifying taking place on Saturday, February 1. The Featherlite Southwest Series "100" is scheduled to take the green flag at 12 noon Sunday, February 2.
