AVONDALE, Ariz. - Matt Crafton finished fourth in the Cruise America 125 NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series (NFSS) race at the Phoenix International Raceway Thursday, November 7. Paul Menard won the race.

"I wanted to put a Menards car in Victory Lane here today," Crafton said. "I just wanted it to be our car, not Paul's.

"I'm really happy for him. We've worked together a lot this year. He's learned so much about oval track racing. I'm happy for him, his family and everybody on that team. I wish it could have been us, but if we weren't going to win this race, I'm glad Paul did."

Crafton, the 2000 NFSS champion, started ninth. He raced as high as third before settling into fourth at the finish of the 125-lap race around the desert mile. The performance was his first top-five in any division since November, 2000.

"I'd like to do this again tomorrow, finish in the top five," Crafton said. "Our truck's running pretty good too."

Crafton starts ninth in the Silverado 150 NASCAR Truck Series race at the track Friday, November 8.
