Woodside wins Southwest Series race at Mesa Marin Raceway.

Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring: Sean Woodside won the Rialto Concrete Products 125 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., holding off veteran M.K. Kanke over the final laps.

The victory was Woodside's second in Series competition.

Woodside praised his Goodyear tires after the race. "We could run (lap times of) 19.20 seconds at the end, after 125 laps. I didn't feel them get greasy. It seemed like they never go away."

Goodyear is the sole tire supplier for the Series.

Kanke finished second, .981 of a second behind the winner. Eddy McKean was third, Steve Belletto took fourth and earned the Rookie of the Race Award after starting 30th, and Scott Brandt came in fifth.

Woodside averaged 69.897 mph over the 125-lap distance. Kanke won his Series record-extending 26th Bud Pole Award, averaging 97.746 mph on his qualifying run around the half-mile speed plant.
