Drivers Share $50,000 in Prize Money From NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series Bonus Program

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 9, 2004) - Fifteen drivers of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series are receiving a combined $50,000 in prize money for the first portion of the leader bonus program for this season.

The prize money, part of the overall $350,000 point fund award for 2004, is being distributed based on the championship standings after the first four races.

Mike Duncan (No. 9 Lucas Oil/Ron's Rear Ends Chevrolet) of Bakersfield, Calif., is receiving $10,000 for leading the West Series point standings. He piloted the MB Duncan Motorsports entry to a top-10 finish in all four races.

Receiving $6,000 for being second after the first four races is series rookie David Gilliland (No. 88 RacecarCeilingFans.com Chevrolet) of Riverside, Calif. In addition to notching his first career series victory in March, the second-generation series driver has two top-five and three top-10 finishes for MRG Motorsports.

Third in the standings is the most recent winner on the circuit, Austin Cameron (No. 16 NAPA/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet). The El Cajon, Calif., competitor - who in addition to the victory has two top-five finishes for Bill McAnally Racing - receives $4,000.

Mike David (No. 2 Bennett Lane Winery Ford) of Modesto, Calif., collects $3,750 for being fourth in the standings after four events. Series veteran Scott Gaylord (No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet) of Lakewood, Colo., gets $3,500 for fifth place in the standings.

Receiving $3,250 for sixth in the standings is Scott Lynch (No. 08 Yerf-Dog/Orleans Racing Dodge) of Burley, Idaho. Jose Luis Ramirez (No. 17 Del Valle/Guerrero Ford) of Mexico City, Mexico, collects $3,000 for seventh - while Daryl Harr (No. 71 WestWorld Motorsports Chevrolet) of St. Albert, Alberta, receives $2,750 for eighth. Receiving $2,500 for ninth is Tim Woods III (No. 54 Chino Hills Ford Ford) of Chino Hills, Calif. Carl Harr (No. 02 WestWorld Motorsports Chevrolet) of Edmonton, Alberta, receives $2,250 for being 10th.

Drivers 11th through 15th will also share in the prize money. They include David Eshleman (No. 11 Fleet Refinishers/Cardenas Markets Chevrolet), $2,000; Nick DeFazio (No. 77 Food 4 Less/Mission Foods Ford), $1,900; Gene Woods (No. 7 Circle K/Monster Energy Drinks Dodge), $1,800; Bobby Hillis (No. 27 Fierce Creature Racing Chevrolet), $1,700 and Jack Sellers (No. 15 Aramark Chevrolet), $1,600.

In addition to the prize money for the first leg, the top 15 drivers who accumulate the most points from the fifth through the ninth races will divide an additional $50,000. This is the seventh consecutive year that teams in the West Series are being rewarded for their performance through this program. The bulk of the overall point fund will be distributed at the end of the season, based on the final championship standings.
