June 4, 2002 (Saugus, Calif.) - With just two points separating him from the top spot in the 2002 Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring championship battle, this Saturday's K & N Performance Filters "150" at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway could be pivotal for driver Sean Woodside.

With the success Woodside has had at Irwindale in the past, he and his crew feel confidant of a solid performance Saturday night.

"We've got a lot of experience at Irwindale," Woodside commented. "We were there almost every Saturday night last year, and we know what we need to do."

Woodside won the 2001 championship in Irwindale Speedway's Super Late Model division, clinching the title with one race still on the schedule and after missing a race early in the season that conflicted with an event in his then primary series, the NASCAR Winston West Series.

Woodside's qualifying lap in last November's JaniKing 250 Presented by NAPA at Irwindale gave him his fifth Bud Pole Award for the season, clinching the annual award for the most poles in the Winston West Series in 2001.

Additionally, Woodside has accumulated several top-five finishes and Bud Pole Awards over the years at Irwindale in both Winston West and Southwest Series cars.

The K & N Performance Filters "150" is the sixth of 14 events on the 2002 Southwest Series schedule. The race will be televised tape-delayed on the Speed Channel on June 17, 2002.
