"RACING DAY AT THE AUTO SHOW" PRESENTED BY MIS AND AAA SET FOR TOMORROW WITH JEFF BURTON, DENNIS SETZER AND RICK CRAWFORD SCHEDULED TO APPEAR
BROOKLYN, Mich. --For the first time ever at the North American International Auto Show, MIS and AAA will present "Racing Day at the Auto Show" on Thursday, January 19, which will feature driver appearances, NASCAR showcars and racing themed giveaways.
Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing is scheduled to attend Racing Day at the Auto Show on January 19, and sign autographs for fans from 11:30 A.M- 1:30 P.M. in the Chevrolet Racing display. Also, Dennis Setzer, winner of last June's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at MIS, is scheduled to sign autographs in the Chevrolet display from 2 P.M. -- 4 P.M. Rick Crawford, driver of the No. 14 Ford F-150 in the Craftsman Truck series will also sign autographs in the Ford Trucks display starting from 1:00 P.M. -- 3:00 P.M.
Also during Racing Day at the Auto Show, the upstairs lobby of Cobo Hall may look more like the NASCAR garage area at MIS. The area will feature several showcars, including the No. 8 Chevrolet driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr., the No. 24 Chevrolet driven by Jeff Gordon and the No. 48 Chevrolet driven by Jimmie Johnson.
MIS and AAA have also partnered up with a two-part display located in Michigan Hall of Cobo Center's lower level. The MIS display will feature the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship trophy, along with the championship winning No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet Tony Stewart showcar, the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Kevin Harvick showcar and the Chevrolet SSR official pace car. The AAA Display will feature the #6 AAA Ford Mark Martin showcar and AAA racing simulator.
MIS will also give out 2006 Speedway calendars to the first 5000 patrons to visit the MIS display in the Michigan Hall display on January 19.
In addition to the display in Michigan Hall, MIS will have a ticket booth located in Cobo Arena with tickets on sale to all 2006 MIS events, including both NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races which will be held June 18 and August 20.
Tickets and camping for both NEXTEL Cup Series races at MIS, the June 18 Michigan 400 and the August 20 GFS Marketplace 400, are on sale now at MIS' official website, www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010. Tickets will be available at www.MISpeedway.com 24 hours a day, seven days a week, starting January 14. Tickets to all other events, which include the IRL IndyCar Series, NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA/REMAX Series are also now available.
