South Boston excitement continues April 5 with Smirnoff Ice Triple Black Night.

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. (April 2, 2003)-- The season opener at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway will be talked about for quite some time, but the Speedway is set to again present its classic racing excitement April 5 with Smirnoff Ice Triple Black Night. The evening will feature the NASCAR Late Models in twin 110-lap events, the Sheetz Limited Sportsman racing for 50 laps and the Pure Stocks competing for 30 laps.

The March 29 Family Homes of America 300 presented by Sheetz saw one repeat winner visit Victory Lane, in the form of 2002 Limited Sportsman Champion Bill Moshenek. Chad Mason captured the second Sheetz Limited Sportsman race, with Tommy Woolridge emerging victorious in the Pure Stock shootout. Denny Hamlin and Mark McFarland won the Late Model twin 150s. However, NASCAR officials declared April 1 that the cars of Hamlin, McFarland and Brandon Butler were disqualified from the second race only. As a result, Wayne Grubb inherited the win for that second race.

Grandstand gates for the Smirnoff Ice Triple Black Night open at 5 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:30 p.m., and racing starting at 7 p.m. The weekly "Racing for Kids Challenge" for children age four to seven begins at 6 p.m. Adult tickets for age 16 and up are $10. Youth tickets are $5, and children nine and under are free.

Fans in the Danville, Va., area can visit the Customer Service Center at Piedmont Mall to purchase tickets to all events at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway.

In 2003, Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway celebrates 46 years of racing excitement and affordable family entertainment.
